Sunday 25th March - Marlow Marauders Successful for Club & County

Yesterday was an excellent day for Marlow Marauders. We sent a team to Windsor for a B fixture and, I am advised, played very well in recording a decisive victory. Sorry I can't relay all the details because I wasn't there and have only had a brief update from Dick. Well done to all who played.

Meanwhile, we had 8 players representing either Bucks A or B teams against Oxfordshire yesterday afternoon, all of whom played a major part in two resounding victories. Oxfordshire had been unbeaten this season but failed to score a single point against Bucks in either match. Try scorers for Bucks included Connor Jordan (2), Michael McGirr & Zack Theodore (in fact, Marlow players fairly monopolised the try scoring) . Tom Carroll was named man of the match in the A team game. I'm pleased to report that very strong performances were also seen from Alex Dark, Cameron Denton, Chris Clarke & Matthew Labron. Both games were excellent to watch and the venue, Shiplake College near Henley, was superb. A really enjoyable afternoon all-round.

Bucks won the B team game 19-0 and the A team game 12-0. The A team game involved many of the Henley players that came to Marlow recently, when we witnessed some overly aggressive behaviour. Some of this was also in evidence yesterday, we believe from the same players. Fortunately, it seems that this was reported and will be subject to disciplinary action.

Bad luck to Jack McNally & Claud Taylor, who were ill and injured respectively and missed the chance to play for Bucks yesterday.
